Now I don’t normally feature what one would class as fast food, but if you love a good portion of crispy battered fish & chips as much as I do, then you’re gonna want to test drive Lucky Fish & Chips.
This franchise ,which is actually part of the Harbour House Group and therefore comes from a pretty impressive restaurant family, started out over in Kalk Bay & Muizenberg and is now slowly taking over Cape Town with 3 very popular stores already: One in Bree St, one on Regent Rd in Sea Point and one over in the oh-so-famous Long St.
I was invited to the latter to to get my fish & chips on, while also enjoying some of the more snacky things they do along with some lovely Boschendal Wines…
I have to say I was very surprised when I walked in. This is definitely not your average fish & chips shop. The decor is bright & modern, very inviting, and it makes for a great spot to also sit down and enjoy a meal instead of only grabbing it on the go.
You can grab a full hake portion on it’s own (R37), with chips (add R15), a side salad (add R19), as a combo (with calamari for R79 or prawns for R75), or even on a roll (R26), but do check out all your options on their menu over here.
Then they are also currently running a special in all 3 their Cape Town branches (Bree St, Sea Point & Long St) where you can get a half hake portion & chips for only R29.50.
