Putting the Reebok All-Terrain Super through its paces

by Karisa

So the folks at Reebok sent me a sexy pair of shoes recently.  They’re called the Reebok All-Terrain Super and they come with a pretty impressive spec:

Born from the trenches of Spartan Races, the Reebok All-Terrain Super is engineered with more cushioning and stability for longer distance races. The All-Terrain Series has been designed in partnership with the Reebok Spartan Race community and elite racers. An innovative, game changing product that will help you conquer any obstacle through water drainage, 360 degrees of traction, mud resistance, durability and versatility.

  • Strategically placed mesh drainage ports allow water to drain quickly and easily
  • Square, indented lugs provides 360 degree traction while the toe pick helps give you leverage on slippery surfaces
  • Duragrip upper helps provide durability in key wear areas
  • Underfoot rock guard helps protect against sharp/hard objects
  • Mid foot teeth help provide traction and protection on ropes and walls
  • Second skin perforated tongue is lightweight and does not absorb water

Firstly, I’m a girl who wants my running shoes to look as cool as possible (for maximum street cred of course), and on that front these All-Terrain Supers ticked the box for sure.  Let’s take a look at their prettiness:

You just can’t go wrong with neon and fun shoes equal a fun workout without a doubt…

To put them to the test, I first took them to the gym:

When you’re fast approaching your mid 30s, you need all that equipment to keep things looking firm 😉

I was immediately impressed by how light they felt on my feet.  Almost like I wasn’t wearing any shoes at all.  They were super comfortable while on the treadmill as well as doing all my other gym activities and at that point I was already a fan.

BUT because these babies are made for so much more, I also decided to take them outdoors…  My friend Darryn van der Walt, who luckily for me also happens to be a super talented photographer, came along for the run and captured some amazing shots of the All-Terrain Supers in action.  We chose Signal Hill as the scene for our big test:  (click on the pics to get a better look)

Of course some pre run stretching is key…

Look how beautiful they look in their natural habitat…

And we’re off…

Cruisin’…

Jumpin’…

Getting those babies nice & dirty…

As far as good grip goes, these shoes are really great.  They also scored well with regards to comfort and they feel like they can take you through tricky terrain & long distance with ease.  All round, I really love my new Reebok All-Terrain Supers and I can happily recommend them to anyone who’s been looking for a good outdoor shoe.

For those who aren’t big on pink, they also come in a blue & yellow option.  Have a look over here to see what that looks like:  Reebokstore.co.za (online price – R1399.95 & free delivery for orders over R500)  But I also recommend popping into your nearest Reebok stockist to try them on for yourselves.  I know the Reebok store in Canal Walk definitely has them in stock.

I have to say a big thank you to Reebok for breathing some fresh air into my workout routine.  Summer prep has now kicked into full gear!
