All about wellness with Mio, Lorna Jane, Concept Studio & One-Juice

by Karisa

I recently joined up with a group of fellow wellness lovers to learn about a few brands/concepts that might just revitalise your health & fitness regime…

We all met up at Lorna Jane – Australia’s leading activewear & sportswear brand for women – who has a store in The Point Mall in Regent Rd, Sea Point.

Lorna Jane is basically for the woman who’s serious about looking her best when she works out.  I, on the other hand, am happy as a clam in an old T.  But I will admit that I was seriously tempted by a lot of the beautiful things they had in store.  Price wise, it’s on the higher end of the scale.  But the quality & fit seemed to be very good.

If you’re a believer in look good – feel good, particularly when exercising, then I’d say definitely pop in for a bit of retail therapy:

Here we also got to play with some Mio skincare products designed to boost overall skin fitness, help with those stubborn areas & also assist with sore, stiff muscles:

That Liquid Yoga smells a-ma-zing, and we rubbed some of that workout wonder onto our shoulders and arms and you could really feel that baby tingling during our workout (which was still to follow).

Poise Brands is the exclusive South African distributor of Mio Skincare, which includes both Mio & and Mama Mio (their pregnancy range).  These products are available nationwide at top spas and salons, but for more information and/or for details of a stockist near you, you can also visit www.poisebrands.co.za

Next up we headed upstairs to Concept Studio where we complete a 30min Altitude Cycling session followed by a 3omin Yoga session.

Now altitude cycling is something I had never tried before, so naturally I was very intrigued.  It all goes down in a specially designed altitude controlled room – and trust me, you can actually feel the altitude difference when you walk in.  The literally feels harder to breathe than outside.  Your instructor then takes you through various sequences designed to really put your fitness to the test, and the theory is that training in a higher altitude allows you to get fitter & stronger much faster.

Welcome to the chamber of pain… 😉

I must admit, I didn’t think it was going to be that tough – especially because I’ve been doing this 12 week program over at OneUp Lifestyle (will be telling you guys all about that at the end of the 12 weeks) and my fitness level at the moment is pretty good.  But altitude training is a different beast.  If you’ve been looking for a way to really shake up your fitness routine, I can highly recommend this.

The yoga session took place in their beautiful yoga studio with wraparound views:

Ah yes… now this I could get used to…

It was lovely & tranquil and everything yoga should be.  That view of Lion’s Head didn’t hurt either… Keen to try some altitude cycling or yoga for yourself?  Then hop on over to their website – www.conceptstudio.co.za – for class schedules & pricing info.

Finally, to recharge after our workout, we enjoyed some cold pressed juices from One-Juice:

I really loved the beetroot, apple, carrot, lemon & ginger one.  The lemon, cayenne, agave one was a bit too hectic for me…

They do a range of 6 different cold pressed juices, jam-packed with vitamins, minerals and enzymes.  They sell these either in boxes of 16/24, or you can opt for one of their 3/5/7 day juice detoxes – all of which you can order from their website over here.

So there you go guys & girls – that’s it for my Friday wellness wrap-up.  Hopefully you’ve spotted something here that’s piqued your interest.

And with that I’m going to say – Have a lovely weekend everybody!  Be good out there.

xxx
