Do check out Pay Back the Curry currently showing at the Baxter Theatre

by Karisa

On Tuesday eve I had the absolute pleasure of watching a new show called “Pay Back the Curry” which kicked off its Baxter Theatre run on the 15th.

With 2 big comedy names behind it in the form of producer, Siv Ngesi, and director, Rob van Vuuren, I knew that this was going to be something quite special…

AND after watching the show I summarised it as follows on Twitter:

“Loved Pay back the curry! Book your tickets now! It’ll make you laugh while also making you think. Totally brilliant.”

So ja, I think it’s safe to say that I thought it was really awesome.

But what is it all about?  Here’s the official show blurb:

In the tradition of the awarding-winning BAFANA REPUBLIC satirical revues that used sport and the FIFA World Cup as entry points for biting social commentary, Mike van Graan’s PAY BACK THE CURRY! comprises a series of sketches to make audiences think even as they laugh. Produced by Siv Ngesi and directed by Rob van Vuuren, PAY BACK THE CURRY! features the multi-talented Daniel Richards depicting a variety of characters (and caricatures) commenting on all things contemporary, from sparrows and statues to Zuptas and zombies!

Tickets are only R100 each (will be worth every cent & more, that I promise you), or R90 each for block bookings of 10 or more & R75 for students and senior citizens.

Tickets can be purchased online via Computicket over here and there’s still a whole host of showtime options for you to choose from:

19 Aug – 7:30 pm
20 Aug – 5:00 pm
20 Aug – 7:30 pm
22 Aug – 7:30 pm
23 Aug – 7:30 pm
24 Aug – 7:30 pm
25 Aug – 7:30 pm
26 Aug – 7:30 pm
27 Aug – 5:00 pm

ALSO, if you can’t make the Baxter run, Pay Back the Curry will then be moving over to Kalk Bay Theatre on the 30th of August and will show there until 10 September.

So no excuses people.  Show some love for our local talent & book those tickets now!
