The Cape Town City Ballet’s The Sleeping Beauty now on at the Artscape

by Karisa

Last weekend I watched the Cape Town City Ballet‘s latest production of The Sleeping Beauty which is currently showing at the Artscape Opera House.

Now if you’ve been craving a classic ballet with beautiful set changes and glamorous costumes, this is going to be right up your alley.

I actually had a bit of a blind moment during the performance…  About 20min in I turned to my friend, Kim, and said:  “I wonder if they’re going to use children to dance the parts of the 7 dwarfs”.  To which she replied:  “That’s Snow White, not Sleeping Beauty”.  * whoops *  Certainly not my brightest moment. 😉

But even though I got the story wrong initially and I do tend to prefer modern ballets, I must admit that this performance was very beautiful.

Accompanied by the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra at selected performances, she show is still running until Sun, 18 Sep 2016.

Ticket prices are only R90 to R140 and are available via Computicket over here.
