Do check out the The Fantastic Grifizzi Brothers, currently in Stellenbosch (and then Cape Town next)

by Karisa

A couple of weeks ago I joined the circus!!! OK OK, not for realz, just for a day… But it was a fun escape nonetheless.  You see my girlfriends and I took a little drive out to Stellenbosch to check out The Fantastic Grifizzi Brothers – an animal FREE travelling circus & gypsy carnival which is currently located on the Van der Stel field on Merriman Street off Adam Tas.

The Fantastic Grifizzi Brothers offers a bit of that circus magic to both young and old with carnival rides, a kids circus show (which, trust me, is equally entertaining for the “young at heart”), live music, 5 bars, 4 restaurants, tarot readings, cotton candy, a motorcycle act that will blow your mind and general awesomeness in between.

Grab a few drinks at The Bohemian Bus Company… (or any of the other bar options)

You’ll find cool live mucic line-up at Rick’s Barber Shop… also a traditional hot towel shave if you need one…

I really wished I was a kid so I could also go jumping… sad face…

That ball cage on the left is where the coolest motorcycle stunt takes place… (look out for it after the show)

Nothing says you’re at the circus like a ferris wheel…

We chose Gorgeous George for the scene of our lunch… Look at all that excitement!

And we certainly did not regret it… Best damn fried fish I’ve had in ages…

The show’s about to start…

“The story of the moon” is kids focused, but the acts will amaze, no matter your age – see what I did there? 😉 Expect acrobats, singers, aerial acts and more…

My advice:  Don’t rush, take it all in… because after the sun sets, it’s oh-so-pretty all lit up…

Designed and produced by Richard Griffin and the super talented team that brought Madame Zingara to SA, The Fantastic Grifizzi Brothers creates a unique theatrical, food and outdoor experience which happens Thursdays to Sundays.
