Comedy alert: Don’t miss Jesters in the Park at the Maynardville Open-Air Festival

by Karisa

This is an event right up my alley… Firstly:  I love stand-up comedy.  Secondly:  I love the Maynarville Open-Air Theatre.  The two combined?  Sounds absolutely fantastic. 🙂

From Wed, 31 Jan 2018 to Sat, 3 Feb 2018, the Cape Town Comedy Club will be bringing you Jesters in the Park as part of the Maynarville Open-Air Festival.

A jester – a person who is given to witticisms, jokes and pranks, especially at a medieval court. A jester is sometimes also called ‘the fool’.  A few hundred years since Shakespeare and so much has changed, yet also so little …

Hosted by Rob van Vuuren, the show features a fantastic line-up of top SA comedy talent including: Daniel Richards, Dylan Skews, Phil de Lange and Kurt Schoonraad.  Be prepared to laugh until you cry as these comics “hold court” and “fool around” as they tackle the social commentary of the day.  From politics and road rage to yoga and water restrictions, no topic will be off limits.

Tickets for the festival range from R150-R220 for regular tickets.  There are discounts for students, groups and pensioners.  A special season ticket for four opening nights can also be purchased for R700 (a saving of R180).

Tickets can be purchased via Computicket over here or by  calling Artscape-dial-a-seat on 021 421 7695.

Here’s a summary of all the need-to-knows:

  • Dates: 31 Jan – 3 Feb 2018
  • Venue:  Maynardville Open-Air Theatre in Maynardville Park (Entrance on the cnr of Piers & Wolfe St, Wynberg)
  • Show times: 8:15pm
  • Oh and the show is family friendly

Dunno about you, but January’s been pretty tough so far, I can definitely do with a bit of laughter therapy…  Don’t miss out & book those seats now!
