One of my favourite wine estates has been up to some very exciting things these past few months… Laborie over in Paarl have added 2 new features for visitors to enjoy, and I was lucky enough to get a good look at both.
The first is their newly renovated Taste tapas terrace. Picture this: beautiful setting, great views of the vineyards & Paarl Rock, Laborie’s award-winning wines at cellar prices, and delicious tapas artfully created by Chef Matthew Gordon (the chef who’s also behind the amazing food at their Harvest restaurant – read my review over here) #AbsoluteBliss
You can also enjoy a leisurely wine tasting (any 5 wines for only R30), the tapas range from R32 to R38, and their menu also features a meal of the day (R60) & a charcuterie platter (R70 for 1 person, R140 for 2 ppl). Have a look at their full menu over here. (they also do various wine pairing options ranging from R35 – R50)
It’s a very relaxed atmosphere which is also suited for the little ones. In fact, they do the cutest grape juice & sweetie pairing, and then afterwards they can burn off all their energy on the jungle gym.
Taste is open: Tuesday – Saturday: 11am – 8pm and Sunday & Monday: 11am – 5pm And you can contact them on: 021 807 3390 or info@laboriewines.co.za
The 2nd is an awesome little bar called Bar Di Bar. Here they combine wine appreciation & beer beer love in perfect harmony. On their menu you’ll find a selection of SA’s best craft beers, along with Laborie’s wines, and some snacky things. Their drinks prices are really good, just have a look at their menu over here, and I really loved the overall feel of the place.
A big part of the decor is their 1975 mobile Volkswagen bar which has now found a new home at Bar Di Bar. The rest of the decor is quirky & fun, complete will fully functional jukebox and all. I reckon you guys will love this spot too.
Bar Di Bar is open: Daily from 11am to 8pm (Kitchen closes at 5pm on Mon/Sun and 8pm Tue to Sat) And you can contact them on: 021 807 3850 or chat@bardibar.co.za
So yeah, that’s two really great additions to an already beautiful estate, and all the more reason to pay them a visit… you know you want to…I have to say a big thanks to the guys from Come Wine With Us who coordinated the evening. This was a really fun mid-week outing, one which definitely left its mark the next morning (but it was so worth it). 😉
