Mondiall in the V&A Waterfront is one of my favourite eateries. Not only because it’s an absolutely beautiful space with some incredible views, but also because they consistently serve up equally beautiful food.
This Brasserie-style restaurant is open 7 days a week serving breakfast (Mon – Fri 9am to 11am), brunch (Sat & Sun 10am to 3pm), lunch (daily 11:30am to 3pm), dinner (daily 6:30pm to 10pm), tapas & cocktails; with the addition of their burger bar also attracting a constant stream of happy customers.
They have, however, welcomed some “fresh blood” to the team in the form of new Executive Chef Riaan Burger who has given their lunch & dinner menu an exciting revamp.
I recently joined a few other foodies to chat to Chef Riaan and get a taste of this new menu of his…

Chef Riaan noted that they’d kept some of the most popular dishes but that about 90% of the menu was new with the addition of a selection of completely new dishes mixed in with a few updates/tweaks to existing dishes.
We worked our way through a few tapas, appetizers & salads, before digging into some mains and finishing off with a selection of cheeses and sweet treats. This is what it all looked like (get ready to drool):

Top left: Smoked ham hock rillettes; Bottom left: Ostrich parfait; And on the right: Olive tapenade & smoked snoek paté (served with freshly baked ciabatta)
This new menu is available now and if you want to get down & dirty with it, I recommend that you call them to book a table soonest.
Mondiall is situated in the Alfred Mall in the V&A Waterfront and you can contact them on 021 418-3002/3 or reservations@mondiall.co.za
Happy Eating everybody!

What was the price of the wine like? As the restaurant has no wine list on their web site. And wine is really important to my meal… What can I say..
Gray
Hi Gray. I completely hear you – wine is key to any great meal for me too. On the day, however, the focus was very much the food. So I didn’t even get a chance to look at their wine list. I would expect it to be good though. Maybe just give them a call and ask if they happen to have an electronic version.
