My incredible stay at the Franschhoek Boutique Hotel

by Karisa

Last weekend I had the absolute pleasure of spending 2 nights at the very cute & oh-so-beautiful Franschhoek Boutique Hotel.

Conveniently situated right in the center of the Franschhoek village, the hotel is walking distance from top restaurants (we all know that Franschhoek is a must-see foodie destination), gorgeous wine estates, art galleries, and various quirky shops.

For example, while we were there we tried out Foliage (rated the number one restaurant in Franschhoek on TripAdvisor at present), we did the wine tram, and we got ourselves pampered over at Franschhoek Hair & Beauty without needing to use our car once!  #LoveThat  Oh and don’t worry, I’ll do separate posts to cover these, so do keep an eye out.  For now the focus is on our gorgeous home base for the weekend…

So as I mentioned above, the hotel is right in the center of town, just off the main road.  In fact you can enter via main road as they have an entrance situated on the square you’ll find at 32 Main Road,  right next door to a restaurant by the name of Allora:

That’s Allora right in the back there & the hotel entrance is to the right of it…

Oh and you’ll also find the wine tram ticket office in that same square… #convenient

As far as their accommodation options go – they have 6 plush & elegant 25sqm boudoir boutique rooms, each decorated in a unique style.  We stayed in  the Aztec room which has a very contemporary style with Aztec inspired geometric touches.

As far as some of the other rooms go, Hennesy has a rich, masculine feel, and if you love a bit of colour & quirkiness, you’re definitely going to love Palm & Sapphire.  Click on the links for pics…

Here’s a look at our room:

Some welcome bubbles upon arrival…

Bestie Kim (aka my weekend getaway partner-in-crime) quickly found her favourite spot…

That tub was heavenly, that’s for sure…  But I also loved that the shower was nice and big too…

All rooms come with:

  • Complimetary Wi-fi
  • Mini Bar Fridge and wine cooler
  • Heated flooring and towel rails
  • Morso contemporary fireplace
  • Beverage and Bar Station
  • Full bath and shower facilities

Also comfy gowns & slippers…

And while you pop out for dinner, they’ll kick-start that fireplace to ensure you come home to a cosy room, ready for you to jump into that big, comfy bed… Bliss!

The next morning we were able to get a good look at our view of the oh-so-picturesque Franschhoek Mountains…

Each room looks out on this view…

Before heading down to breakfast which is served downstairs in the open-plan lounge & reception area:

Love how the decor literally makes you feel like your inside someone’s luxurious home…

Breakfast, which of course is included in your stay is a tough choice because everything looks sooooooo good. They start you off with some fresh fruit, cold meats and baked goodies, and then you also get to order from their breakfast menu.

I decided to do the eggs benedict on morning one and then the weekend breakfast on morning 2 (which proved to be a life saver after a long & exciting day out on the wine tram):

Breakfast 1… honestly one of the best eggs benedicts I’ve had in ages…

Breakfast 2… just what the doctor ordered…

So yeah, as you can see, a tough stay all round hey… living like queens, loving life…  so hard… 😉

If I had to summarise why the Franschhoek Boutique Hotel is a must, I would say it would come down to the following key things:

  1. Location, location, location
  2. Gorgeous rooms with a home-style feel
  3. Attention to detail (both from a service perspective and the little extras in your room)
  4. And they truly have the loveliest team I’ve ever come across who will look after your every need…

As far as their rates go, you’re looking at:

  • Winter Rates from R2,600
  • Summer Rates from R 3,500

At the moment you can get a room (double occupancy) from R2800 to R3900, and for single occupancy from R2950 to R3500 per night.

Just some items to note:

  • Max Adults – 2
  • No children under 16
  • Bed & Breakfast

To make a reservation, you can contact the hotel on:

Tel: +27 21 876 2453
Fax: +27 (0)86 461 9488
info@fbhotel.co.za

Or you can check availability and book via their online booking form over here.

And then you’ll find them here:

  • C/O Daniel Hugo & Van Wijk Street
  • Franschhoek
(this is where you’ll find the parking, which is FREE btw – there’s none of that sneaky extra charges stuff here)

Do it… It’ll be so good for your soul. Trust me.  I mean we felt like we were away for much longer than just the two nights, and as far as weekends away go, this one has topped the charts.

A BIG BIG BIIIIG thank you to the FBH team for looking after us so well.  We honestly did not want to leave…

More details on our weekend activities to follow…

Looks heavenly, but single occupancy rates always kill my vibe.

Yeah, I feel you on that one. Whenever I travel solo that single occupancy charge is always a downer…
