Last Friday Spoilt Hair & Nails in Green Point spoilt me to an all new hair treatment which my amazing hair magician, Gilbert, calls “Botox for your hair“.
The treatment is called the No Inhibition Age Renew Elixir of Youth and is made by UK haircare brand milk_shake.
Currently Spoilt is the only Cape Town salon that stocks milk_shake products… #justsoyouknow
The treatment aims to have a rejuvenating effect on your hair, boosting volume and giving you maximum shine & smoothness.
This is what the treatment kit looks like:
BUT… If you go on a Friday, you get free wine! So I didn’t mind the alien head so much…
After than you go back to the basin for a 5min mask & massage (Mimi btw has heavenly hands – did not want to get up again). After that it’s a fabulous blow dry using a dash of their leave in styling cream and voila!
The treatment kicks off with a quick shampoo after which they apply a mix of an age renew additive and a revitalising treatment. You then sit under heat for 10min while looking like kinda like an alien being, all wrapped up in cling-wrap like so:
So what’s a girl to do with these gorgeous new locks? Work that golden hour light of course: Let’s talk results: I have to say immediately my hair was the softest it’s ever been (like ever – couldn’t stop touching it). Now a week in I can still feel that it’s definitely still very soft and also nice & shiny. I can’t say that I noticed much of a volumising effect, but then again I don’t really have any concerns in that area, so perhaps that would be more noticeable to people with fine hair. Overall though I was very impressed & I’d definitely consider doing this treatment again.
Also keen to try it out?
The treatment costs R450 (and is an in-salon treatment only). Gilbert recommends that you have it done around every 2 months, which I think is a very manageable investment into keeping your hair looking young & fresh.
