A braai at Oudekraal is an absolute must!

by Karisa

Oudekraal is a beautiful, sheltered beach & braai area found between Camps Bay and Llandudno, just after the 12 Apostles Hotel.

Because it’s a protected area as part of SANParks, there’s a R40 charge per adult to get in (R15 for kids I think), but there are braai facilities, bins for your trash and ablution block facilities which makes it super convenient.  You basically just need to bring your own braai grid and supplies & a sun umbrella and you’re good to go.

But the best part?  The crystal blue waters and views for days!  Let me show you what I mean:

Just a tip:

When heading down the stairs, most people will end up heading left to set up camp on that side.  If you’re looking for something more secluded, rather head right (or straight depending on how you look at it) at the first fork, then right again at the next fork, cross the little bridge and head up & right towards the water.  That’s where we settled and it was perfection.

Oh and another thing – they don’t allow alcohol at Oudekraal.  You could try to disguise a bit of vino in a plastic bottle, but of course I could never advocate anything like that… 😉  They do spot checks on cooler boxes and bags as you enter, so your “skillz better be illz”, that’s all I’m saying…

Enjoy!
