Romantic date night alert:  Picture the scene… The heartbreaking love story of Romeo & Juliet, danced by Cape Town’s top ballet talent, all taking place in a garden setting under the stars.

Seriously, what’s not to love?

It’s Maynardville Open-Air Theatre season again and from Sunday, 22 January 2017 the Cape Town City Ballet will be bringing you the story of Romeo & Juliet, specially choreographed for this unique venue by Robin van Wyk.

Told in a timeless classical style, this romantic ballet is set to transport you into a realm of love, family dispute and a tragic, but uplifting end.  Van Wyk will be using the beautiful Prokofiev score to enhance his choreography, allowing you to be swept away into another world.

The story’s characters are portrayed by the stars of the Cape Town City Ballet alongside two stars of the past, Janet Lindup, who plays the part of Lady Capulet, and Nicolette Loxton as the Nurse, who guides Juliet in her desire to follow her heart.

Tickets cost only R140 – R160 each and the shows will take place every Sunday at 8:15pm from 22 Jan until 26 Feb 2017.
