Face The Music quiz show style at Kalk Bay Theatre

by Karisa

Last Friday evening I paid the Kalk Bay Theatre another visit to check out their new show called “Face The Music“.  Featuring local singing talents Lucy Tops, Hannah Hishin, Luella Holland & Tegan Shearer and Brad Searle fulfilling the role of host extraordinaire, the show celebrates musical hits we all know & love that have been broken down into 4 categories:  Divas, TV, Decades & Movies.  It’s a trip down memory lane that’ll definitely have you singing along and wanting to jump up to bust a move and it’s highly recommended as an fantastical escape from any nightmarish day you may have had.

Adding to the fun of the evening is the Face The Music quiz show element where the audience gets to participate by guessing the singer, the show, the decade and the movie.  There are 30 songs in total (with some surprises thrown into the mix) and the goal is to get the highest score out of 30 to win a cool prize.

My partner-in-crime, Kim, and I managed to get 27 out of 30, which I’m quite proud of.  But I’m sure there are a couple of you Noot-vir-Noot-style musical experts out there that will easily get a 100% score.

As a little teaser (and to help you with those answers), here’s what to expect on the Face The Music line-up:

Adele, The Beatles, Shakira, Annie Lennox, Cher, Tina Turner, Dolly Parton, Madonna, The Chords, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Chaka Khan, The Crystals, The Spice Girls, Whitney Houston, Rihanna, ABBA and a stash more.

Tickets cost only R175 pp and are available online over here.

Other things to note:

  • Starting time: 8:30pm
  • Duration: 60min
  • Age Restriction:  12 yrs

BOOK now to avoid disappointment… AND while you’re at it, also book a table to enjoy dinner & drinks before the show.  This was the first time that I’d actually done this myself and instantly regretted not going for this option before.   The restaurant opens at 6:30pm (with last orders taken at 7:30pm), and you get preferential theatre seating as a dinner guest.

Love the personal touch!

Both Kim and I opted for the sirloin.  Other options include ravioli, calamari and a fish of the day.  They also have a small selection of starters & desserts which looked very tempting as well.   You can check out their full menu over here along with their drinks selection.

This was delicious… perfectly cooked steak (they recommend medium rare), creamy mushroom sauce & chunky chips… what’s not to love?

To book a table, contact them on 021 7887257.

** I was invited by the theatre.  Tickets were on them, but the dinner was for our own account. **
