Love the beach? Wouldn’t mind a chilled 5km beach run / walk? Even better if it involved supporting an incredible cause? Then the Miles for Smiles Youth Day Beach Run is for you. 🙂
Taking place on Melkbos Beach on the 16th of June 2019, this fun run / walk is aiming to collect funds to pay for 10 Facial Reconstructions for children born with cleft lip and cleft palates.
Did you know? Approximately one in every 1 000 babies in Africa is born with a cleft palate or lip, and one in 10 babies born with this condition will unfortunately not survive to celebrate their first birthday unless they are able to get the needed corrective surgery. So with that in mind, what better way can you think of to celebrate Youth Day than by making such a critical difference in a child’s life.
The run is open to the whole family, including your furry friends (they must just be on a leash with a poop bag on hand for any beach “accidents”). All fitness levels are welcome, so you can run it or walk it, whatever your vibe, as long as you’re there showing your support & having fun.
Corporates are also encouraged to get involved by sponsoring a team of up to 20 ppl for only R1500.
- Discovery Vitality members will also get 300 points for participating in the event.
- There are lucky draw prizes up for grabs.
- All participants will receive a medal.
- And there are prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in each category.
