I try out Legs Eleven’s new LPG Endermolift anti-aging treatment

by Karisa

So, when it comes to skin care & anti-aging, I’m a pretty basic girl.  I do the old morning and evening cleanse & moisturise routine.  I make sure I use a high SPF every day (even in winter).  I try to drink enough water (well I try), and every now and again I might do a mask while soaking in the tub.   As for anti-aging specifically, I only started using a Retinol Serum in the evenings round about this time last year when my best friend almost fell off her chair when I said I wasn’t using anything, and this while fast approaching 33 at that stage.

Now, a few months shy of 34, I’ve really started to become more aware of the fact that I probably can’t count on good genes for much longer (I mean the scary thing is that we apparently stop producing collagen at 25!), and I’ve therefore realised that if I don’t start taking a more active approach to anti-aging, I might soon wake up looking like this:

OK OK, that’s totally adorable I know… but you get what I mean… (Image source: http://img.izismile.com/img/img3/20100202/animals_217_03.jpg)

My problem has always been however that I hate the idea of needles & fillers of any kind.  I feel like I might consider it at a much later stage, but only as a last resort.  Scary lasers that leave you looking like you have third-degree burns are also not my thing, and I’ve seen some chemical peels gone wrong which hasn’t left me with much confidence in those either.  So what do I do?!?

Enter Legs Eleven’s new LPG Endermolift which offers non-aggressive cellular stimulation with a promise to replenishes the skin and decrease the signs of aging while also stimulating the natural synthesis of Hyaluronic Acid by up to 80% (the only technique in the world capable of this) as well as Elastin by up to 46%.  Just as a little “how the skin works” explanation – Fibroblasts are responsible for creating the basic building blocks of the dermis, giving it density, softness & radiance (and also, these are the little guys who stop working at around the age of 25 which then causes your collagen to stop producing as well).  Collagen is used for preservation & firmness, Elastin for suppleness & Hyaluronic Acid for volume & hydration.

Endermolift is 100% natural and suitable for both women & men of all ages and it kinda comes down to a little workout for your skin, just like you’d go to the gym to keep your body looking tight.  The treatment head (you can see that in the pic above) uses patented MPF (Motorised Pulsating Flaps) technology which provides multi-dimensional stimulation on the skin’s surface for an intense physiological awakening.  Stimulated fibroblasts then operate from within to produce a metamorphosis of the skin and a firmer, more youthful looking skin is the result.  But do also take a look at this 5min video which explains how it all works:

I got to try a full face treatment for myself and I must say that I left there quite impressed by the whole process.  It’s completely pain free, no scary stuff,  in fact it’s actually quite relaxing.  It’s also quick & easy and you don’t have to go into hiding afterwards.

I’ve been going to Legs Eleven for about a 9 months now for laser hair removal. The team there is really lovely & very knowledgeable. Oh and doesn’t the Endermolift machine look like a friendly little robot?

You can either opt to do a full face treatment at R400 or a target zone treatment at R160 (pick between forehead, eyes, jaw line, mouth area, double chin, neck, etc).  But my feeling is that you get more bang for your buck with the full face option, I mean it certainly won’t do any harm doing your full face even if you’re just worrying about a particular area.  Prevention is always a good thing.  A normal treatment cycle consists of 12 treatments.  They’ll start you off on a few regular treatments up front (like maybe twice a week for the first 4), then they start spacing it out and depending on your skin condition, you could end up going once a month much like you’d book a monthly facial.  They’ll sit down with you though to asses your specific needs and then recommend the best treatment plan.

Also, if you’re able to purchase treatments up front, you’ll get quite a nice saving:

  • For full face:  buy 6 sessions and get 1 free (works out to R334 per session & total of R2000) OR buy 12 sessions and get 3 free (works out to R300 per session & total of R3600)
  • For target zone:  buy 6 sessions and get 1 free (works out to R134 per session & total of R800) OR buy 12 sessions and get 3 free (works out to R120 per session & total of R1440)

For those who prefer, you can also purchase your own set of flaps that will only be used for your treatments.  The kit will cost you an extra R350 once off, but of course they make sure the flaps are properly sanitised after each treatment, so it’s not a necessity.

My full face treatment took about 40min and I did take some before & after pics, but because my lines are still very much not that noticeable to the eye (and I only went for one session), you’re not going to look at these and have a big wow moment.  What you probably will see at least is that my skin looked a little more plump after the treatment with a slight more pinkish colour from all the stimulation:

I decided to crop to the forehead & eye area because that seems to be the areas that are showing the first signs of aging for me… slight frown lines between the eyes plus expression lines around the eyes & on my forehead.  I’d like to think those are all signs of a good life so far 😉

The next day I have to say that my skin definitely looked fresher than usual.  Kinda like I’d had a good break or something.  I’m very interested to see what results I would get after a few treatments and am currently seriously considering purchasing some further treatments (as soon as I have some extra money to do so).  You have to think of this as a lifestyle change though, just like you have to keep going to the gym to keep in shape, you also have to keep doing these treatments to keep your skin looking fit.  I would be very happy to do my few upfront treatments to get everything all boosted up again, and then possibly get into a monthly routine for maintenance/prevention.  It would make more sense to me to go for one of these treatments instead of a regular facial for example.  And then maybe as I get older, I could step up the treatments again.  Anyways, that’s just what I’m thinking about at present…

Here are some of their before & after pics, all featuring ladies who did a full 12 treatment cycle:

It’s also good for facial slimming…

For those who want to supplement their treatments with some at home care, they also offer a specialised LPG Endermologie skincare range which you can purchase directly from them.  They have products for both face & body and prices range from R240 for a Collagen mask to R730 for their Replenishing & Redensifying Cream (for extra plumping & wrinkle busting) or their Global Sculpting Cream (good for that double chin area).  I suggest you chat to them about these products during your consultation and then decide for yourself whether it’s something you’d like to add on.

If you have any more questions, do also check out the Legs Eleven Endermolift FAQ page over here or simply drop them an email or give them a call.

For those who have some body concerns, they also offer Lipomassage that uses a similar technique to the Endermolift treatment, but is designed to treat stubborn fat & improve the appearance of cellulite.  Read more about that here.

Thanks to the Legs Eleven team for letting me test drive this new treatment.  It’s definitely left me with a lot to think about skin wise…
