The Cape Town City Ballet continues their 80 year anniversary celebrations with a new ballet which opens this week called: Gala Occasion
With 4 performances only (read – you better book your seats now), Gala Occasion will feature highlights from the Cape Town City Ballet’s most memorable productions. This will include excerpts from works choreographed by Cecily Robinson, Gary Burne, David Poole, Norman Furber, Andre Prokovsky, Veronica Paeper, Robin van Wyk and more.
Also featuring appearances by former prima ballerina Tracy Li and her well-known dance partner, Daniel Ranja, Gala Occasian is set to showcase the Mother City’s amazing ballet talents.
Tracy Li & Daniel will perform the Act I Eurydice & Pluto pas de deux from Orpheus in the Underworld in selected performances, while former ballerina Janet Lindup, will team up with Johnny Bovang in La Famille, choreographed in memory of the late ballet doyenne, Dulcie Howes.
Ballet fans can also keep a lookout for: Men’s Dance from Raymonda, Waltz of the Hours from Coppélia, Spring Waters and excerpts from Romeo and Juliet, Zhivago and La Bayadère.
