April “Tastes of 2015” happenings at the Vineyard Hotel

by Karisa

The Vineyard Hotel‘s Tastes of 2015 April calendar features 3 special events ideal for all the food & wine lovers out there:

  • This Saturday, 11 April:  Glen Carlou 5 course dinner at The Square Restaurant
The hotel will pair the Burgundy-inspired wines of Glen Carlou with a unique 5 course menu created by Executive Chef Carl van Rooyen.  Situated in Simondium, Glen Carlou likes to think of its wine-making style as ‘curatorship’.  With a custom-designed cellar, they combine time-honoured winemaking methods with state-of-the-art equipment to capture the magic of wine; and with numerous awards for their Chardonnay, Grand Classique, Pinot Noir and Syrah wines under their belt, this dinner is one for the wine connoisseurs.
    – Ticket cost:  R545 pp
  • On Sunday, 12 April:  Pinot Noir Festival
The annual Pinot Noir Festival will see some of the best South African Pinot Noir producers take to the hotel’s gorgeous lawns to celebrate the virtues of this multi-faceted grape varietal.  Guests are invited to sip away from 14:00 to 17:00 while enjoying some tasty canapés, live music, and a good relaxation session on the grass where blankets & umbrellas will be scattered to make things nice & comfy.
    – Ticket cost:  R190 pp
  • Then on Friday, 24 April: 5 course wine pairing dinner at The Square Restaurant
The hotel will host a dinner with their five wine partners – Klein Constantia, Simonsig, Meerlust, Waterford and Warwick – enticing guests with five courses to match the wines from each estate.  These five estates were instrumental in re-establishing the 100 vines on the property and each boasts significant winemaking histories in their own right.  This dinner is particularly close to the hotel’s heart and guests are encouraged to join them in celebrating these historic wines.
    – Ticket cost:  R370 pp
