I check out a lovely little deli by the name of Brooker & Waller

by Karisa

I know I can be a bit of a “town snob” at times… BUT today I’m sharing the details of a awesome little gem I found over in the Southern Suburbs.

It’s called Brooker & Waller and it’s a multi-tasking deli and breakfast/lunch spot situated right across the road from Cavendish Square in Cavendish Street.  In fact, I’d say it’s the perfect spot for a pre, mid or even post shopping excursion:

Parking is a bit limited out front, but you can always just use the Cavendish Square parking.  Other important things to mention?  They have Free Wifi and all their goodies are locally sourced.

Now let me give you a quick tour:

There’s also some seating on the outside:

And being a deli and all, lots of awesome things to buy and enjoy at home:

I also really loved their wall of foodie related quotes…

Their menu options include some breakfast things (covering both the healthy & the eggy varieties).  Then on the lunch side of things they have a selection of salads, some gourmet sandwiches, a charcuterie platter, a mezze platter, tacos, pizza and a few other light meals.

They of course also serve a mean selection of coffees and teas – Tribe Coffee in fact, as well as some RED options for the Rooibos lovers out there.  Ooh also… take a look at their devilishly good lookin’ cake display (dieters beware)…

My friend Janine and I decided to share so we could get a taste of both their breakfast & lunch offering.  To start we each had a lovely flat white which comes served with the prettiest heart cookie which rests oh-so-casually on the rim of your cup.  Then we shared the EGG option which is chopped boiled eggs with crème fraîche & chives served on a toasted baguette (R45).  Finally we were both really feeling the vibe of the homemade ginger beer (R35) and the Mexican Street tacos with chicken breast, avo, mixed spices, fresh tomato, chopped peppers, sour cream & mozzarella (R60).

It was absolute deliciousness from beginning to end.  My only minor complaint is that I like my tacos hot, hot, hot.  But a drizzle of some Eric Todd (which you can also buy there) really hit the spot.

The verdict?  I really love this spot.  It’s super cute, the food’s tasty, the service is friendly, and the coffee… well, that was hand down the prettiest cup of coffee I’ve ever seen.

I’ll definitely pop by again the next time I’m on a shopping mission at Cavendish & I highly recommend that you do the same.

On my official Miss K Kiss-o-Meter, I give them a solid:  kiss4

Do check out their Facebook page over here for directions as well as regular updates about the freshly baked goodies that are available.

Brooker & Waller is open Mon – Fri from 8am to 5pm & Sat from 9am to 3pm
