This year’s 5 for Change black tie fundraising event was not only another awesomely fun evening out in the Mother City, but also a huge success on the giving back front. Get this: This year they managed to raise over R200 000 through their auction alone, which on the night saw pretty much every item going for more than its valuated price. (well done Cape Town – that’s a new record!)
The scene of the party was of course our beautiful Cape Town City Hall which provided the perfect backdrop for a great evening:
Over 600 people showed up in support of this year’s 5 incredible social initiatives: Read to Rise, My Own Cup, TradeMark, Generation Ubuntu and Beyond Expectation Environmental Project.
Actor and comedian Siv Ngesi played MC & host for the evening, along with kick-ass performances by Rumspringer, GoodLuck and DJ West.
This is by far one of the most fun ways to give back, and therefore I highly recommend you keep an eye out again next year. If you missed out and would like to learn more about this year’s 5 beneficiaries, do check out this inspiring video summary the 5 For Change team put together:
If there’s at all any way in which you can help, I urge you to hop on over to their respective websites to get involved. As they say: Even small actions can lead to extraordinary positive change.
Then before I sign out, I’d also just like to say a quick thank you to the team from Hair Today Hair Tomorrow who did my hair for the event. I’ve been using their bhave range of products for a while now and absolutely love it. For my loose waves we used a few of their label.m products to give me some extra shine & hold (my hair is notorious for not wanting to curl at all – so trust me when I say I really put them to the test):
