This just popped into my Inbox: The new Winter Tasting Menu at La Mouette

This literally just popped into my Inbox… and had be drooling within seconds… so I just knew I had to share.  La Mouette in Sea Point has just launched their new Winter Tasting Menu.  This is what’s on the cards:

6 courses for only R295 (or R495 with wines)

  • Winter Snacks
    Duck parfait, home cured duck ham, boerenkaas croquettes, pear and quince chutney
  • Celeriac soup
    Truffle dressing, salt baked celeriac, pickled apple and king mushrooms
  • Beetroots and goats cheese
    Hantam goats cheese, ash rind, pine nuts, hay infused beetroot dressing and beetroot leaf tempura
  • Charred sole and parsnips
    Charcoal mayonnaise, onion ash, triple cooked parsnips and umami vinaigrette
    Mash and burnt onion gravy
    Beef marmalade, consommé, pickled onions and smoked mash
    Confit egg yolk, chestnuts, parmesan crumbs and brown butter
  • Cured trout Marinière
    Mussels, pickled cucumber, herb emulsion, dill oil and pink fir potatoes
    Crispy lamb shoulder and loin
    Buffalo fromage blanc, pickled turnip, watercress puree, blackened wild garlic and puffed barley
    Pumpkin tortellini
    Basil moss, pumpkin seeds, pumpkin and coconut veloute
  • Blackberry and pine
    Pine cream, sorbet, lemon curd, wood sorrel, apple powder, chocolate, hazelnut and burnt butter crumble
    Daleswood brie on toast (R45 supplement)
    Honey comb, walnut and raisin bread

Other need to knows:

  • For tables of 10 or more a 12% discretionary service charge will be added to your bill
  • A voluntary & much appreciated R5 donation will be added to your bill for Streetsmart Charity

I haven’t yet managed to pay them a visit since their refurb…  But I think this menu just sealed the deal. 😉
