Last Friday evening I watched “Joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat” over at Theatre on the Bay in Camps Bay and it had me singing “Jacooooooob, Jacob and sons!” for days (with jazz hands included of course)…
But seriously, this is one of my favourite plays of all time and I never miss the opportunity to see it.
This production features local talents Earl Gregory as Joseph (he also featured in JC Superstar, Cats & Sweeney Todd), Bianca Le Grange as the Narrator (you’ll remember her from Idols & Blood Brothers) and Jonathan Roxmouth as the Pharaoh (also known for his roles in Sweeney Todd, Phantom, Cats, Sunset Blvd, JC Superstar, A handful of keys & Beauty and the beast).
For those of you who don’t know the storyline: It’s a retelling of the Biblical story of Joseph and his coat of many colours, but jam-packed with hit songs like “Any dream will do and “Close every door to me” written by musical theatre legend, Andrew Lloyd Weber.
The full cast consists of 23 of the best musical theatre performers and dancers SA has to offer and the show is a vibrant, fun & intoxicating experience not to be missed.
The Cape Town run ends on Sat, 5 Nov – but shows are starting to sell out already, so don’t sit on this for too long.
