Last week I popped in at the Kalk Bay Theatre for a new show called Big Boys The Third.
Featuring real-life brothers, Ash & Brad Searle, the show is the 3rd installment of a story of two brothers who find themselves in pretty crazy situations.
After two sell out hit shows, number 3 promises even more laughter, more insane dance moves, and tons of entertainment.
The show’s been so well received they completely sold out at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown (and was in fact one of the two top-selling shows) and since kicking off at Kalk Bay Theatre on the 2oth of September it’s been nice & busy night after night. In fact, they’re sold out for this evening’s show already (in case you thought you’d maybe be able to fit in a sneaky theatre visit).
Directed by Kalk Bay Theatre’s very own Vanessa Harris, in Big Boys The Third we join Ash & Brad in the hospital as they wait excitedly (and also nervously) for the arrival of Brad & his girlfriend Shannon’s baby… But there’s some things these brothers need to iron out first. Like the huge embarrassing moment at the opening of the Ash & Brad show in Cape Town (a dance show they started back in part 2) a few months earlier…
I had sadly not seen parts 1 & 2, but it luckly is not a prerequisite as you’re quickly able get up to speed. (TIP: Do read the synopsis that displays on screen before the show kicks off) But I have to say, this was hands down the most fun I’ve had at a theatre all year. The dance sequences will blow you away, the guys will have you laughing until you cry, and overall it’s just an awesome experience which is not to be missed.
Big Boys The Third is still showing until 15 Oct – but tickets are selling out fast, so don’t delay.
