#DoStellies – Cheese & wine at Uva Mira Mountain Vineyards

The 2nd stop on my #DoStellies adventure was Uva Mira Moutain Vineyards.  Their location on the slopes of the Helderberg Mountain range, 620 meters above sea level, is what makes this this vineyard extra special.

Their tasting room is aaaall about the views.  On a sunny day you can sit outside, but inside is really just as beautiful…

Uva Mira produces a selection of white & red wines including Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz and a Cabernet Franc.  And where does their interesting name come from?  Well “Uva” is latin & Italian word for grape and “Mira”  means worthy of admiration / wonderful / marvelous but also has a cosmic link to the red giant binary star Mira – the most notable star in the Omicrom Cetus constellation.

This cosmic link is also carried through to their wine label which I fell in love with instantly:

Their wines are beautiful overall, but I particularly enjoyed their Chardonnay & their Merlot:

As far as wine tasting options go, you can:

• Enjoy a selection of three wines from the Mira Series at R50
• Or do the Mira Tasting which includes four wines from the Mira Series at R70

Then you simply HAVE to try their artisanal cheese platter.  Just look at this:

Their artisanal cheese platters and savoury meat platters are available at R225.  Or you can enjoy a combination artisanal cheese & savoury meat platter for R250.

Uva Mira is open daily from 10am to 6pm.   But if you’re wanting to sit down for a platter, reservations are highly recommended.
