Ballet lovers take note: Don Quixote now on at the Artscape Theatre until 29 Oct

by Karisa

From this evening until Sunday, 29 October 2017 the Cape Town City Ballet will be presenting Liane Lurie’s (local director/producer) revival of the popular full length ballet, Don Quixote.

Ballet fans will be happy to know that this production captures the humour, all the hot Spanish flavour along with the many thrills of the original Cervantes work.

With music by Ludwig Minkus and choreography inspired by Petipa, Gorsky and Nureyev (all famous ballet choreographers from way back in the day), this version incorporates all the traditionally-expected virtuoso pas de deux and solos, along with some unexpected surprises.

But what does all of that mean?  Well you can expect a light-hearted, fully entertaining ballet performed in 3 acts.  #EasyPeasy

The ballet is accompanied by the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra (at all but one of the performances), conducted by Brandon Phillips, and ballet stars Laura Bosenberg, Mariette Opperman and Thomas Thorne will be hitting the stage.
