Gettin’ my balayage on with Hair by Gilbert

So this year has been a pretty exciting one hair wise, and that’s all thanks to the incredible Gilbert Mofubelu from Hair By Gilbert. He’s taken me from drab brunette to balayage queen and now I simply don’t know how I will ever live without him in my life. 🙂

For those not familiar with the term balayage – it’s a technique for highlighting hair in which the dye is painted on in such a way as to create a graduated, natural-looking effect

We recently decided to be a little braver & go a lot blonder… eeek, a little nerve-wracking, not gonna lie, but now that I’ve had some time to get used to it, I really love the blonder me.  In fact, I may even go blonder still (something which Gilbert is keen on trying).

This is what we were working with as the before – a little bit of a copper vibe, darker at the top with some blonde bits on the ends:

And so the process began:

It took a good couple of hours to finish off the colour side of things, then a quick sexy layered cut & blowdry… And finally, the end result:
