Say hello to the all-new Kong Bar & Grill

by Karisa

Last week I attended the media launch of what I’m predicting will quickly become one of the hottest bars in Cape Town… Introducing Kong Bar & Grill – located in the heart of De Waterkant in Cobern Street.

The first thing that will blow you away about Kong is most definitely the decor. It is unusual, it is striking, it is luxurious, and most importantly, it is absolutely beautiful. So before we get down to any of the nitty-gritty details, let me share a couple of photos to set the scene:

Other than now being the new prettiest place in town 😉 – Kong is aiming to create a bit of a gastropub slash sportsbar & grill kind of vibe.

Having officially opened back in June, the team at Kong says they’ve already become a popular spot for after work drinks & dinners.

On the menu you’ll find a selection of tapas, salads & bistro-style fair.

Being a media launch, we had canapes instead of a sit-down dinner, but what we were able to sample on the night was very delicious. Have a look at their full menu over here.

I could definitely see myself enjoying a night out with the girls, starting with after work drinks, moving to a lovely dinner, and finishing with some good tunes & good conversation.

The space includes two fully serviced dining areas, plenty of TVs for all the sports fans out there as well as a rooftop deck with adjoining pool table rooms. What more could you ask for really?

Currently you can take advantage of their happy hour special daily between 12:00 – 13:30 & 16:30 – 18:00 where it’s 2-for-1 on all beers & house wine. They also run daily cocktail specials & for the month of July they’re running a pasta of the week deal which includes a glass of house wine for only R85.

Do keep an eye on their specials page for other upcoming deals, many of which are coupled up with big sporting events that are on the horizon.

Kong is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 2am (lunch & dinner), Sundays from 11am to 5pm (lunch only) & closed on Mondays.

You’ll find them at: 10 Cobern Street, De Waterkant.
And you can give them a call on 082 429 9123 to make a reservation.

Do go and pay them a visit.
