Taj Cape Town is running a special Afternoon Tea for the month of August in celebration of Women’s Month.
Hosted in the hotel’s The Lobby Lounge, which very interestingly used to the the former banking hall of the old Reserve Bank, you’ll be surrounded by spectacular marble columns, beautiful chandeliers & decadent leather seating:
Every weekend for the month of August 2019 guests will receive a complimentary cocktail courtesy of Whitley Neill Gin on arrival. This handcrafted gin comes in a range of unique flavours including Lemongrass and Ginger, Quince, Parma Violet and Blood Orange, to name a few.
I decided to go with their Protea & Hibiscus variant which is exclusively available here in South Africa. Mixed with some pink tonic & a touch of dry ice for some theatrical flair, this was the perfect way to kick off an afternoon of pure indulgence.
For those who prefer something with a little less kick, they also have a selection of coffees & teas to choose from:
Now let’s talk food! The Afternoon Tea is served buffet style. On the one side a selection of tempting savoury treats:

The idea is to take your time, browse through all of the delicious bite size options & then enjoy at your leisure. Seconds (and even thirds) are encouraged & stretchy clothing is highly recommended. 😉
The August afternoon tea sessions run every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 2:00pm – 6:00pm* & costs only R275 per person.
*They normally do Afternoon Tea daily, but the special Women’s month teas that include the welcome cocktail are only running over the weekends.
I really enjoyed this Afternoon Tea & thought it was great value for what’s included. This is definitely the perfect “treat yourself” opportunity, so get your girlfriends together & make this your next afternoon outing.
