There are not a lot of things that get me off the couch (and away from my precious Netflix) during the winter months – a great winter restaurant special is one, the other is the awesome folks at the Kalk Bay Theatre. I do rave about them a lot, because well, they deserve it. I have yet to leave there smiling from ear-to-ear and it’s gotten to the point where I don’t even read up about the show beforehand anymore. I just know I’m going to have a great time.
Their latest production, Man Band, is no exception. My friend Werner & I checked it out last week Tuesday, and even though both of us had had pretty miserable days that day, Tuesday ended up being the highlight of the week.
The show features 5 lovely local lads: Ash Searle, Liam McDermott, Brad Searle, Alex Tops and Gareth Christie. Inspired by the rock legends and boy bands of the past, they bust out some slick moves while performing a series of beats, ballads & barbershop breakouts, with a few comedy snippets thrown in along the way.
You can expect renditions of Boys II Men, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Jackson Five, Crosby Stills and Nash, Queen, Foo Fighters, Outkast, Back Street Boys, Aerosmith, The Turtles, Kings of Leon and more.
It’s in three words it’s: totally feel-good entertainment
Man Band is running until 21 September 2019, but it’s already super popular, particularly on Tuesday nights when it’s 2-for-1, so do plan ahead and get your tickets now.
