The Hussar Grill in Camps Bay gets a fresh new look

by Karisa

If you love a good steak, it’s impossible for you not to know (and love) The Hussar Grill in Camps Bay. It’s one of the restaurants I find myself recommending to both locals and visitors on a regular basis and it’s definitely become a bit of a Cape Town institution.

Celebrating 55 years of grilling excellence, The Hussar Grill’s Camps Bay branch, which is currently the number 1 restaurant in Camps Bay according to TripAdvisor, recently underwent a very sexy interior transformation, bringing this well-loved restaurant into a new era of delicious food and excellent service, now just with a fresh, new look.

Here’s a quick tour:

They’ve gone for a very sophisticated steakhouse look, making use of dark-wood & leather finishings, antique pieces, vintage books, wine bottles, wine crates and oak barrels.
With their extensive wine selection taking centre stage…
And still retaining a welcoming, unpretentious feel…
My favourite table in the house!
Of course the views are still as incredible as always…

They also have a brand-new kitchen, new bathroom facilities (including facilities for those requiring wheelchair access), as well as improved lighting and ventilation throughout.

On the food side, like the saying goes “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. All your favourite items are still on the menu alongside an excellent wine list which now includes some extra special vintages that weren’t previously available.

That said, The Hussar Grill 50 year anniversary red is a really lovely wine which pairs perfectly with a juicy steak.

Some of my favourite menu items include the Hollandse Bitterballen (R72) from their starters selection:

Love myself anything deep fried with a juicy centre…
And then who doesn’t love a beautiful fillet, cooked medium rare and served with your sauce of choice… Of course if you’re wanting something with a bit more flair, The Hussar Grill does everything from Game Steaks to a fancy pants Chateaubriand. Check out their full menu over here.

So basically: Same fantastic food & service, but now available in an even more beautiful setting. 🙂

If you’re reading this & thinking “damn, I could definitely do with a juicy steak right now”, you should call & book a table ASAP.

*** This was an invitation by the restaurant & their PR team. We got to sample a couple of their menu favourites & the meal was on them. ***
