My luxurious stay at 15 On Orange

by Karisa

This past weekend I had the absolute pleasure of spending a night at the gorgeous 15 On Orange Hotel.

This hotel is truly a stunner.  From the moment you step inside you have to go “wow” as you’re greeted by the fresh, modern design.  I love how they’ve maximised on light with the hotel’s big glass front, and I also love how they went a bit playful with the furnishings & colour scheme.

I brought bestie Leigh along as my partner-in-crime and we were booked into one of the hotel’s luxury suites.  (Yes yes, I’m officially the world’s best friend)

The suite was HUGE.  As in one could easily use it as a city-living pad.  Free Wifi, 2 flatscreen TVs, a lounge, a stocked mini bar, a heavenly tub, a big shower and most importantly the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept on.  Seriously, it’s all Leigh and I could talk about.  When we mentioned it to general manager, Douglas Allen, he smiled and said yes, he gets many requests from guests to organise one of those beds for them too. (And just so you know, they will happily arrange that for you & get it delivered.  How’s that for service.)

Heaven…  I’m in heaven…  (For other room types, hop on over here – they range from standard rooms to extra large penthouses, all with those great beds though)

I immediately wanted to explore.  First stop:  the 7th floor.  Why?  Well it houses the hotel spa (check out the Suntra Spa website over here), as well as a rooftop pool & deck area, that’s why…

How could one not love this…

Must go back to also try the spa. Looked beautiful.

The views from up there are spectacular.  From Table Mountain to the Company’s Garden, it’s all viewable from up there:

Back on the ground level is where all the eating & drinking happens.  The hotel has a very cool, retro looking coffee shop / snack bar:

Great for a good cuppa…

And then next to that, you’ll find their Savour Restaurant where breakfast, dinner & lunch is served:

Really liked the Asian style decor… (well it felt a little Asian to me at least)

Then maybe the pièce de résistance from an interior styling perspective is the Murano Bar:

Now I bet you’ve never seen a bar like that…

There’s also an outside lounge area where you can enjoy some sunshine (which is exactly what Leigh and I decided to do before dinner):

And we can highly recommend their Murano Martini (R45):

Fresh tasting & sweet, cocktail perfection.

Dinner and breakfast the next morning was of course back at Savour.  Their dinner menu includes delectable starters like west coast oysters, crumbed calamari, honey chilli prawns & steak tartare, followed by some Asian-style & seafood dishes, various risotto & pasta options and lots of tempting red meat dishes.  We were so stuffed after our starters & mains that we didn’t even make it to dessert…  incredibly sad, because the Molten Valhrona chocolate fondant was definitely calling my name…

Breakfast was just the way I like it, buffet style with an impressive selection of fruits, cereals, breads, meats, cheeses & pastries, followed by your traditional egg, bacon, sausage, mushroom & grilled tomato options.  (But you can also choose from a selection of set breakfasts on their menu)

A #foodporn collage from our dinner & breakfast…  Mmmmm.

Important thing to point out is that of course the Murano Bar & Savour Restaurant is open to anyone.  Just give the hotel a call to make a reservation.  Here’s the info you’ll need:

Hotel address:  Corner Grey’s Pass and Orange Street, Mill Street, Cape Town
Contact them on:  +27 (21) 469 8000

Also if you fancy a stay (and I highly recommend it), do check out their Exclusive offers page.  There’s a “Savour the moment” deal there right now which sounds pretty great…

Now my stay at 15 On Orange was also linked to test driving their Sunday lunch buffet which is a special treat that only happens every first Sunday of each month.  But I felt that deserved it’s own post, so more to come tomorrow.

For now I’m just going to say a BIG thank you to the absolutely lovely team at 15 On Orange.  We had an incredible stay and we definitely didn’t want to leave. (Would’ve stolen the bed, but it wouldn’t fit in my Mini… dammit)

Maybe I can return to live in one of the penthouses (which are available for purchase btw). I just need to win the lotto or marry rich.  For the latter, CVs can be emailed directly to me, thx. 😉
