To celebrate the launch of this year’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town, myself along with some other lovely folks were treated to a grand “love your city” tour during which we were given the low-down on what to expect at this year’s fashion feast which is set to take place at the CTICC from Thu, 24 July to Sat, 26 July 2014:

Our first stop was the top floor of the elegant Westin Hotel, which let’s face it, boasts some of the best views in town. This hotel will be buzzing with fashionistas, designers and beautiful people come 24 Jul thanks to its convenient location as part of the CTICC, the home of the MBFWCT 2014 (Bottom left with the awesome Elrico Bellingan from Luxo.co.za)

Our second stop was the Everard Read Gallery in the V&A where we were given a sneak-peak at hair & make-up trends that will be on show thanks to the talented teams from MAC & GHD... Doesn’t that model top left remind you of a scene from a colour fest? Just so beautiful isn’t it?

Oh did I mention we were driven around in a fleet of oh-so-elegant vehicles thanks to Mercedes-Benz? That’s just how we roll…

Our next stop was the uber trendy DoubleTree by Hilton over in Woodstock (previously known as the Upper Eastside Hotel). Here we also got a close up look at the sexy new Mercedes C-Class… now I certainly wouldn’t mind having one of those parked in my parking bay…

And then our last stop was the gorgeous One & Only where we enjoyed some champers and canapes while getting all the last important Fashion Week details…. details which of course I will be sharing with you here…
Think Gavin Rajah, KLûK CGDT, Stefania Morland, Fabiani, Craig Port, as well as a host of exciting newcomers. PLUS, I can also confirm that award-winning and internationally acclaimed Johannesburg designer, Marianne Fassler, will be opening this year’s fashion week with a what promises to be a fabulous showing of her latest collection:
Other mentions:- As part of African Fashion International (AFI)‘s mandate to foster creative independence amongst new talent – Nicholas Coutts, Alexandra Blanc (BLANC), Ernest Mahomane & AFI Young Designer of the Year 2014, Eleni Labrou (Akedo) – will whow their collections at the AFI Next Generation show.
- And the AFI Fastrack™ programme will also be doing an installation by the 2014 winners, Rich Mnisi, Tuelo Ngunyuka, Jessica Ross and Naazneen Kagee, who were all crowned Fastrack™ winners at MBFWJ earlier this year.
Now to recap:
- When? 24 – 26 July 2014
- Where? CTICC
- Tickets? Available via Webtickets over here – prices range from R100 to R250 (depending on which show you choose)
