It’s a boozy summer thanks to Aperol Spritz & Chambord

by Karisa

So a perk of this weird and wonderful world of blogging is that I get sent some pretty cool stuff to try out.  Case in point two recent deliveries which have ensured that my summer evenings are nicely sorted…

The first is an apertif all the way from Venice, Italy called Aperol Spritz.  It’s apparently already hugely popular across Europe and the most widespread and commonly drunk aperitif in Italy; and now they’re taking on the South African market:

I know, I know… that is a WHOLE LOTTA orange 🙂

A closer look at the bottle…

Now to enjoy your very own Aperol Spritz cocktail, you simply need to follow these easy steps:

And then you can sit back & enjoy…

Cheers!

It makes for a fresh and tasty summer drink and I will definitely be enjoying a few of these in the weeks to come…  Keep an eye out for it at a bottle store near you.  You should be paying around R130 per bottle (depending on the store of course), and then I’ve actually already spotted it at a few eateries and bars as well, so you can also try it before investing in a whole bottle.

The 2nd delivery was from a brand I already know & love – Chambord.   This delicious premium black raspberry liqueur comes with a proud French heritage and is really delicious:

Best paired with your favourite bubbly…

And without a doubt one of the prettiest bottles you’ll ever see… (Oh and they also sent me a beautiful book filled with product info & cocktail recipes, but more about that further down)

The simplest way to enjoy Chambord is to add a tot to a champagne class and top up with your bubbly of choice:

Simple, yet effective…

But because I’m awesome, I’ve also scanned in some of the recipes in that big gold book they sent me so you can get a little creative on your side as well:

You can find Chambord at most major liquor stores and you should pay around R220 per bottle.  It also makes for a great cooking/baking aid.  Think raspberry infused chocolate sauces, or a zesty raspberry compote.  If you’re a whizz in the kitchen, I’m sure you’ll come up with lots of great uses for this baby.

So yeah, both great boozy summer options, or even nice as a gift.  I would share some of mine, but I’m afraid there’s not too much left… 😉

Where can one buy Aperol in South Africa?
It’s my friend’s favorite but I think her bottle from Italy must be running low.

Yeah, it really is beautiful. Looks really nice just standing on a shelf, but of course drinking it is encouraged as well 😉
