Some Valentine’s Day options…

by Karisa

So it’s the month of luuuuuuuurve… And you’re probably looking for some Valentine’s Day suggestions, right?  Right…  Here’s a quick rundown of some options which arrived in my Inbox recently:

      • “Feast on music” in the Atrium at African Pride 15 On Orange Hotel with a live performance in an intimate setting from Jimmy Nevis
The evening kicks off at 7pm and tickets cost R395 per person (which gets you a mezze platter, small bowl dining, dessert and a complimentary bottle of Graham Beck MCC).  For bookings contact lauren@15onorangehotel.com.  Limited seats are available so book early to avoid disappointment.

      • Watch Top Gun under the stars at The Hope @ Paul Cluver Amphitheatre (Elgin)
Keen for something a little different?  Well watching a film in a forest theatre certainly ticks that box.  Pack a picnic basket and surprise your special someone with this old-school classic film under the stars, and with tickets only R100 each, it’s a date that won’t break the budget either.  You’ll also be doubling up by helping a really great cause, because proceeds of all Hope Festival events go to the Thembalitsha Foundation – an organisation that supports and rehabilitates some of the most vulnerable and desperate people in our society.
Just some things to take note of:  you can bring your own food, however there will be some things on sale as well.  No alcohol is permitted, but Paul Cluver wine will be on sale along with craft beer, soft drinks, teas & coffees.  You should also bring along some blankets and cushions to sit on (and to keep you warm), but folding chairs will not be allowed to ensure everyone gets a clear view of the screen.
Gates for Top Gun open at 18h00 and the show starts at 19h30.  Tickets are available via Computicket over here.

      • Sterling EQ Valentine’s Concert at Tables at Nitida
Multiple award-winning South African super group Sterling EQ returns to Nitida for what promises to be another unforgettable Valentine’s Day concert under the stars.
This popular instrumental trio entertained lovebirds, friends and family alike on Valentines evening last year with their mix of iconic melodies, original numbers and foot tapping hits.  This year, Valentine concert goers can expect another delightful blend of music which will include old and new favourites, plus a few romantic evergreens, of course.  To round off the experience, Tables @ Nitida will spoil guests with a delectable picnic basket filled with a selection of delicious tapas and platters, as well a bottle of Nitida Roxia, all included in the ticket price. A special kids picnic basket filled with yummy treats will be available at R60 from the venue for children under 12, who can also enjoy the concert and the dedicated play area at Tables.  Kicking off at 7pm, the event will take place at Tables Restaurant`s natural amphitheater, offering ample space on the lawn for couples and groups to spread out and enjoy the open sky.

AND for all the single peeps out there, if all this romantic stuff is making you want to drive your car off a cliff, don’t stress, there’s something for you guys as well:

  • A Single Taste – South Africa’s first and only dinner club just for singles – is hosting a special 4-Course Gourmet Dinner + Wine Pairing evening at a secret spot in Cape Town’s CBD.  Kicking off at 19h00 for 19h30, the dinner will cost R550/person and seats are limited, so you better hurry up and book soon.  Guests may book online at http://reserve.asingletaste.com or via email at service@asingletaste.com.  The only requirement is that you need another single friend of the opposite sex (and who you’re not involved with) to book with you.  If you don’t have a single friend however, they’ve got a new Waiting List option where they’ll pair you up with someone.  But if you can find someone to join, it is always better to have a wingman (or wingwoman) by your side.

This really does sound like a really cool evening out…

If all else fails, you can do what I’ve done the last few years:  Host a horror movie night with pizza and ice cream and lots and lots of wine. 😉 #EasyPeasy

xxx
