When I used to work out in the North, my lunch oasis used to be a spot called Pulp Kitchen in the Willowbridge Shopping Centre. (I even did a Cape Town My Love review of it back in the day – to check it out, hop on over here: A total found gem in the Northern Suburbs – who woulda thought)
Back then it was my little taste of town cafe culture. It stood out from the other spots found in the area, and they served up a mean sticky chicken wrap I used to love.
Since then my work’s moved back closer to town and Pulp Kitchen opened up a second branch over in Gardens Centre, which is just around the corner from where I stay. So it’s now way more convenient to get my Pulp fix.
BUT then, the Willowbridge store recently got a sexy little revamp and the team invited me over to come and check it out (along with some of their new menu items). Now how could a girl say no to an offer like that…
So with my momzy (who happened to be in town) and my friend D in tow, we headed back out to the Northern Suburbs for some Pulp goodness.
Let’s first take a peek at that fresh new look:
A very cool addition is also their tree of coffee luuuuurve… Here you can purchase a voucher which entitles the receiver to a large coffee to the value of R24. Choose between “ek smaak jou stukkend”, “pay it forward” or “sharing is caring”, stick it up on the tree, and make someone’s day. Isn’t that cool?

As an added bonus, if you post a picture on Instagram / Facebook tagging them, you’ll be entered into a draw to win free coffee for a month…
On the menu side, new items include some fresh new breakfast options like their caprese croissant (R45) or mushrooms on toast (R45). Then they’ve also extended their super juice options and added a whole new super shakes section with optional boosters and all. And last, but certainly not least, they’ve added a few new toasties, salads, wraps & burgers.
I was keen to try one of their new super juices, so I went for the one with the cutest name (of course). It’s called The Hot Pink Monkey and contains orange, apple, banana, beetroot & chia seeds. My mom just went for a regular juice & D went for a red cappuccino (great on those days where your body just can’t handle any more caffeine).
Then on the food side, I stuck with a classic – a gourmet sandwich called “The Club” (R64):
My mom, who’s clearly way more of a healthy eater than I am, went for their new beetroot salad with added tuna (R43 + R16 if you opt for the tuna):
And D went for their new Mexican burger with sweet potato fries (R71):
Everything we had was fresh & tasty, and it was really good to see that after all these years, they are still serving up all the goodness I came to love when I first stumbled upon them.
For those needing a bit more naughtiness in their life – also do yourself a favour by checking out their baked goods section:
We decided to share their red velvet cheesecake which is literally layers of red velvet cake & baked cheesecake all in one beautiful slice:To the Pulp Kitchen team I have to say #High5sAllRound. Still love what you guys do & I love the new look Willowbridge store.
To you guys I also just wanted to highlight 2 things:
