Last week I attended the launch of a cool new spot in Pepper St called Mulberry & Prince.
Open from Tue – Sat, 5pm to 10pm, they make for an awesome little after work spot.
Their menu is a fusion of local and contemporary American cuisine and I hear that the owners are both chefs who studied at The Culinary Institute of America.
We unfortunately didn’t get to sample too much of the menu on the night (I find that’s a general struggle with launches), but the items I sampled were delicious, so I’m very keen to go back for a proper sit down meal.
In the meantime, I’m going to share some photos to pique your interest a bit…
Then these were the nibbles we had – I don’t eat oysters, but the oyster-lovers around me gave them the thumbs up. Then the bread item is their Lardo on toast with quince jam. It may not have photographed too well, but it was damn tasty. The last item was their Bacalao fritters which is a fish balletjie – and yes, that’s totally a legit culinary term. These too were pretty good.
Like I mentioned, just some snacks. So do want to try a full meal…
Wanna pay them a visit too? Cool. You’ll find them at nr 12 Pepper St, just off Bree. You can also call them on 0214223301 or email them at info@mulberryandprince.co.za
