Game of Thrones fans are going to love this year’s MCQP theme

by Karisa

With all the Game of Thrones mania, particularly now that season 7 is in full swing, I think MCQP‘s theme announcement for 2017 is a very clever one…

This year’s theme is “Dungeons & Dragons” which means GoT fans finally have a solid reason to show off their best GoT look.

This year’s event returns to the Castle of Good Hope for the first time in 17 yrs and will be taking place on Sat, 16 December 2017.

For those of you who are not GoT fans (I wasn’t initially, but somehow got sucked in towards the end of season 5 – so I do understand), the theme also easily extends to the time of Merlin, brave knights, warriors, kings & queens, bloodthirsty animals, monsters and other dark elements.  So lots of options to play with really…

I actually recently attended a GoT theme’d 30th birthday party and had loads of fun transforming into Melisandre aka The Red Woman aka The Red Witch… also it was actually super easy. I bought red hair spray at a party shop for R30, pulled an old dress and some costume jewellery from my closet, played up my make-up a bit and Googled how to style my hair… and voilà!

So yeah, I think this year’s theme is going to offer up lots of great outfits and lots of dress-up fun, and with this year’s announcement happening way earlier than previous years, it gives you lots of time to plan that perfect look that’s going to bring in aaaaall the social media likes. 😉

Now in their 24th year, Africa’s biggest & longest running costume party is promising to be bigger & bolder than ever. Famed DJ and event organiser, Candice Heyns, joined the team of organisers this year after extensively touring Europe as both a DJ performer and assisting in arranging some of the biggest events in a variety of European countries, providing vast knowledge on the latest international trends.

Early Bird tickets are available right now at only R260 pp for general access (until 31 Aug – then it increases to R310 until end Oct and then R380 after).  Early Bird VIP tickets are R650 (until 31 Aug – then it increases to R800 until end Oct and then R975 after) and then there’s also the option of booking a Privé Kings Chamber suite which accommodate 20-30 people.

So just a summary of all the NB deets:

  • When?  Sat, 16 Dec 2017
  • Time?  Starting from 7pm onwards
  • Tickets?  Tickets are available via Quicket over here.
  • Social media? Join the conversation on Facebook (ILikeMCQP), Twitter (@MCQP) and Instagram (#MCQP)
  • More info?  Check their FB page of visit mcqp.co.za (website hasn’t been updated just yet – but will be soon)

I’m really hoping I can make this year’s event… I’ve been able to attend most of them over the last few years and have always had a great time.  Who knows, maybe Melisandre will make another appearance this year…
