Get your seafood fix over at SeaBreeze Fish & Shell

by Karisa

Are you a big seafood fan? Have an oyster obsession that keeps you awake at night?  Well then you’re going to love the new SeaBreeze Fish & Shell in Bree Street.

A friend of mine booked a table there about 2 weeks ago for her birthday celebrations & I was very happy that she chose this awesome little spot as I’d been dying to try it out…

You’ll be happy to know that they focus on sourcing local & sustainable seafood (so no SASSI red list items here folks), they also have an outside terrace for beautiful sunny days AND an oyster & MCC bar.

I really loved the decor…. It’s got a bit of a seaside cottage feel while still keeping things modern & fresh:

Beautiful right?

Because we were a bigger group, we got this room which is separate from the main dining area… Cheers!

We got there early to abuse their Oyster Happy Hour! The happy hour takes place every day from 12pm – 1pm and 5pm to 6pm, and you only pay R10 per oyster

I say a big fat high five to that…

I also tried their mussels starter which is served in a Cape Malay sauce.  The serving is nice and big for a starter and that sauce was delicious.  You’re gonna want to ask for extra bread, trust me

Our waiter also recommended that I try their smoked snoek doughnut (part of their small plates / starters selection).  It’s a super interesting dish.  I wasn’t sure whether I was going to like it, but I actually really did.  The doughnut is soft & fluffy and the tomato jam it’s served with compliments it perfectly.

Other hits at the table included the fish curry bunny chow:

And the wild langoustines:

But in all honesty, everything we had was fresh & delicious.  On the drinks side they have a pretty impressive rum selection including some signature rum cocktails.  You can also order a selection of MCCs by the glass and off course there’s also wine, spirits, craft beers and all the other regulars to choose from.  On the service side our waiter was awesome – friendly & attentive and knew the menu well, so could make great recommendations.  And for all these reasons I’m going to give SeaBreeze a score of  on my Miss K Kiss-o-Meter scale.

Have a look-see at their food menu over here:

Hungry now?  Then book a table ASAP!  SeaBreeze is open Monday to Saturday 12pm to 9.30pm.  They’re situated at 211 – 213 Bree Street and you can call them on 074 79 39 349.
