I really am more of a summer person… I mean winter’s cool and all with the red wine & movies on the couch, but summer is all about enjoying the great outdoors, sexy sun-kissed skin and taking full advantage of everything this beautiful city has to offer.
One of my favourite things to do during summer is the Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts. I attended their first concert which featured Ismaël Lô from Senegal two weeks ago and then I’m going again on the 10th of December for Matthew Mole & Majozi baby! Really looking forward to that one…
Other awesome acts on this year’s line-up include: Mango Groove, Freshlyground, Goldfish, Hot Water, Prime Circle, Fokofpolisiekar, Beatenberg, the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Goodluck, The Kiffness, Jeremy Loops, Dan Patlansky / Albert Frost and Kahn Morbee & Karen Zoid.
The concerts run until 1 April 2018, so lots of opportunities for you to join in, and ticket prices range from R135/R140 (under 21s) to R180/R204 (adults).
This truly is one of my top “must do” things for making the most of summer in Cape Town, so get involved if you haven’t yet booked some tickets. Tickets can be purchased online via Webtickets over here (or at the gardens – but they normally sell out pretty quick, so I’d recommend just going the online route).
Another tip – get there early: The gates open at 16:00 and the concerts start at 17:30, but you definitely want to ensure that you get a good spot on the lawn.
Right, with all that said, I’ll leave you with some pretty scenery shots from the Ismaël Lô concert to further tempt you:
