The beautiful Backsberg estate…

Keen for a picnic in the winelands while listening to some awesome live music?  Of course you are… I mean, what’s not to love about that?

Backsberg Wine Estate has released the lineup for their much anticipated 2018 Picnic Concert Series which will be taking place every Sunday from 18 February to 18 March.

This year’s lineup is as follows:

  • Sun, 18 Feb:  Spoegwolf
  • Sun, 25 Feb:  Valiant Swart
  • Sun, 4 Mar:  Manouche
  • Sun, 11 Mar:  A double bill with Sutherland and Nic Preen – the lead singer of Al Bairre
  • Sun, 18 Mar:  Bottomless Coffee Band

I’m going to be joining them on the 18th of Feb.  Will be honest, I don’t know the band Spoegwolf, but did a quick Google and they seem quite cool.

This picnic series which first took place back in 2010 has become a summertime staple with a strong following, and I really can see why.  Ending off your weekend lazing around under leafy trees on their sprawling lawns while enjoying some good food & wine and some great SA music.  It definitely brings the saying “Sunday fun day” to life. 😉

For those with little ones, bring them along to enjoy the jumping castles & lawn games.  This is a totally family-friendly affair.

Picnic boxes are available for purchase with your ticket and include a selection of fresh bread, quiche, charcuterie, locally sourced cheese, olives, pâtés, preserves, Pinotage onion relish, pickles, a chef’s salad, a chocolate brownie and fresh seasonal fruit salad.  Wine, beer and cider will be available for purchase on-site as well as an assortment of easy foods such as wraps, burgers, fries, soft drinks and water.  Branded promotional items including picnic blankets will be on sale each Sunday as well.

Looks totally inviting, doesn’t it?

Doors open at 3pm with the opening act starting at 4pm. The main band takes over at 5pm and the final set ends at 7pm.

Tickets are available via Webtickets at R120pp (without picnic box) or R230pp (with picnic box), or alternatively tickets are available at the gate at R150pp or R60 per student on presentation of a valid Student Card (children under 12 enter FREE of charge).

So what are you waiting for – book those tickets now.
