About 2 weeks ago I attended the relaunch of an old Cape Town favourite (well one of mine at least – particularly for their sushi)… Sevruga Restaurant in the V&A Waterfront.
New owner, Mike Townsend, has drawn from his 20+ years of restaurant industry experience as founder of the well-known Harbour House Group and now a restaurateur in his private capacity, to create a beautifully revamped space.
Sevruga’s interior now has a fresh, new look featuring tropical prints and a much lighter, slightly more relaxed green & white palette:
Other renovations also include a new bar area as well as softer arches which beautifully frame the wine fridges which are fully stocked with proudly South African wines. Finally, the open air dining area has also been refreshed to match the new, lighter interior.
On the food side, some new items to look out for include:
- A starter of seared scallops served with cauliflower puree, crème fraiche, anchovy, caper berries and salmon roe
- A main meal of pan fried prawns with garlic, chilli, lemon, parsley, smoked paprika aioli and your choice of hand cut chips or rice pilaf
- A classic crème brûleè served with boudoir biscuit and fresh berries
Have a look at their full menu on their website over here.
So yeah, next time you’re in the V&A, do pop your head in to check out the sexy new vibe. You’ll find them at Shop 4, Quay 5 with a gorgeous view of the Waterfront Harbour.
